7.6 is the best! It flew and still flys on my 20 Mhz Centris with 96 mb of ram, so imagine if I could run it on my PB 1 Ghz~
omg!

I bet OS 9 will work pretty well on your hardware as well.
Unless Apple already have cut off OS 9 support in the PB..?

Just imagine how fast MS-DOS must run on a 2.8 GHz Pentium! But of course, you couldn't do much real work.
I think you'd discover the same thing with 7.6.

Actaully, I use 7.6 for Mathamatica, Matlab, Photoshop and some other programs and it works fine.

system 0.97 (1.0) was the fastest with no doubt. Remember the 10 second boot times even off a disk? Good days..Good days.

Fast but no support for USB, FW. Rudimentary network and so on.
when you save to a floppy you have to wait, even printing makes the computer stutter
7.1 only took up about 10 MB of my 80 MB HD and 1.5 MB of the 4 MB of RAM I had. But so what, I would never like to run 7.6 on a Dual 1.25 just to gain speed. It would be as pointless to have SMP on a LCII. What would the point be with multitasking when one task is to much for the 16 Mhz CPU?
While I do hope that 10.3 will be faster than 10.2 I have no wish to get back to preX days with that horrible file browsing in the finder and many other outdated designs in 9.2.2
