I don't know what a PMU is. However, you maybe referring to a PMMU, which, if memory serves, is a paged memory management unit. The PMMU is the circuitry that provides virtual memory support.

I asked Apple why my computer was locking up from sleeping when in 10; yes, I know this is the classic area yet there is a reason....
The guy gave me a list of things it could be and all said items I did leaving the PMU.
Knowing that it is the PMMU I shall look in this area.
As to the Freeze if anyone knows, I shall post it...
Dual 800, 1.5 gig RAM, 2 80 Gig HD, loaded 9.2.2 and a couple dozen apps....Photoshop -- Final Cut Pro they run Great....
Load 10.2.3 no apps loaded I just want to get to know the features that are there put it to sleep every so often and from time to it just locks up.....
That is my problem.........

I'm quite sorry. I just did another search and there is a "PMU." It stands for Power Management Unit. Apparently this is what Apple renamed CUDA to.
Take a look at this KBase article, but note that this guide is for a service tech. I take no responsiblity for what Apple tells you to do therein. If the link doesn't work, search for PMU or simply 95037.

I remember CUDA from years ago, so that is what happened to it. Went to site and I should get Apple to take the blame if this one goes bad as I did extend the warranty this time after laptop failure.
I would like to thank you for all your help.

Yeah, PMU = power management unit. Can get corrupted every now and then. That's when you press the CUDA/PMU reset button... to reset it.
It's basically a computer inside a computer. Give the circuitry on the mobo a tap and you can crash it.

Look by the RAM slots.
Little round black button.
