I don’t see anyone mentioning the real problem with Wolf’s WHCD performance is all those mother****ers depend on access journalism for their livelihood.

I had heard of Wolf prior to the WHCD. I saw the Drudge link to the YouTube of the monologue. I have yet to get passed the Roy Moore jab. I read she went after Sarah Sanders,wo was at the main table.

You don't think Roy Moore had that coming? Well then it got more harsh later. She did ding Ted Kennedy though, so something for everyone.

Her act was different than most previous comic hosts how, exactly? The WHCD has long had an aspect of being a roast, especially toward those currently in power. This "outrage" is just a bunch of manufactured nonsense.

They’re usually tamer than this, but as I said, it was a problem for the correspondents in the room because they have to work with all these people who got lit up at their invitation, and Wolf gets to go home to her newly found stardom. There’s an art to how far it’s supposed to go, and they dropped the ball.
This is why Haberman started kicking.

I suspect haberman misheard wolf say "fat" instead of "facts" and thought that crossed the line.

Possibly.
Midway through her set, Wolf took aim at Huckabee Sanders, who was seated alongside her on the dais. “We are graced with Sarah’s presence tonight. I have to say, I’m a little star-struck. I love you as Aunt Lydia on The Handmaid’s Tale,” she said, referring to the Hulu show’s oppressive villain. “I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s really resourceful. She burns facts, and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye.” When the camera cut to Huckabee Sanders, she appeared visibly annoyed.
The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, who was given a shout-out in the night’s animated opening number, took issue with the “smokey eye” bit, and accused Wolf of making “intense criticism of her physical appearance.”
Maggie Haberman

@maggieNYT
That @PressSec sat and absorbed intense criticism of her physical appearance, her job performance, and so forth, instead of walking out, on national television, was impressive.

This is either a bad misinterpretation of Wolf’s joke or a criticism meant to curry favor with the Trump administration. Either way, saying that Huckabee Sanders achieves “a perfect smokey eye” with the ash from burnt facts does not qualify as “intense criticism of her physical appearance.”

I’ve never watched the show but I kinda get the impression it was like saying “I love you as Goebbles”.
Which I think is maybe a little harsh.

Aunt Lydia is a pretty horrible character. I took it as less than an attack on appearance and more of a "woman who sells other women out". I'm sure the actress who plays Lydia can also achieve a good smoky eye when she wants to.

They were apparently consoling SHS after the set, which is bullshit.
I think the real irony is if the journalists had better detachment, they might get fewer leaks, which would probably benefit the administration rather than the media.

I asked @maggieNYT to quote the line where Michelle intensely criticized SHS’s appearance. She unfollowed me.
She has an extremely important job. Making vague statements that she herself cannot back up with facts/quotes isn’t helping.

Ryan added, "This was not about politics or prayers, it was about pastoral services. And a number of our members felt like the pastoral services were not being adequately served, or offered."
Do these congresspeople not have their own church and clergy to turn to? You want to improve the situation, just eliminate the position.

“We have political disagreements in this country, and I think it’s wrong for journalists to take that next step,” Schlapp said. “Just present the facts. Let the American people decide if they think someone is lying. The journalist shouldn’t be the one to say the president or his spokesperson is lying, because what that does is to 50 percent of the country, is it makes them feel like they aren’t credible to listen to anymore.”
An influential conservative saying reporting that something is a lie (or false) is bad journalism. God help us.

http://thehill.com/business-a-lobbyi...uclear-weapons
Shortly after the statement was sent out, the White House posted a slightly adjusted version to its website. The altered version changed the word "has" to "had," so that the statement reads as follows: "Iran had a robust, clandestine nuclear weapons program that it has tried and failed to hide from the world and from its own people."
****ing amateur hour. My conspiratorial side would say Bolton dictated what he wanted and the WH balked when called on it.

As much as I dislike access journalism, I tolerate it because I want the press to get insider information. I don’t see any way around it.

You didn't invite Goebbles, Hitler sent him instead since he's busy hiding in a bunker playing golf.

No, I get that, though I didn't phrase it in such a manner. But the criticism seems to be that if you're going to insult the person, don't do it to their face.

Wandering analogies aside, the tradition has always been for the president to attend, take some jokes with good grace, and then lob a few back. President Snowflake can't handle that, whose fault is that? If you don't invite him, he'll throw a stink too.

No, I’m saying don’t invite someone to dinner and then insult them.
If they’re deserving of insult, don’t invite them to dinner.
I’m using the term “dinner” literally.

2019 Week before dinner:
"Worst party ever, last year's comedian bombed, I went in 2011, steak was raw and no ketchup, I wouldn't be caught dead with the LSM today."
"Wait, I wasn't invited?"
"LSM continues obstructive selective inner circle elitism, they didn't invite me, despite tradition, can you imagine? They should be arrested."

An excuse?
He doesn't think he needs any. Because he's a flaming narcissist.
I don't think it can be excused, regardless.
Some may think he doesn't need an excuse for being a jackass, because everyone knows he's a jackass. (Except the people that he has convinced that everyone else is lying about the jackassery, or his base who loves him for the jackassery).
If we're not criticizing, we're condoning.

Giving him an invitation is condoning.
I am not bothered by someone I do not condone throwing a tantrum.

So, its come out that Trump did indeed dictate his glowing letter from his doctor on his health and seized the records last year after his doctor got blabby (and the seizure is definitely not kosher).
Once again, Trump, king of projection.

Virginia’s largest public university granted the conservative Charles Koch Foundation a say in the hiring and firing of professors in exchange for millions of dollars in donations, according to newly released documents.
The release of donor agreements between George Mason University and the foundation follows years of denials by university administrators that Koch foundation donations inhibit academic freedom.
University President Angel Cabrera wrote a note to faculty Friday night saying the agreements “fall short of the standards of academic independence I expect any gift to meet.” The admission came three days after a judge scrutinized the university’s earlier refusal to release any documents.
This left-wing political correctness is out of control!

Insofar as Sarah was there as stand-in for Trump, and frequently speaks for Trump, it's not a deflection to discuss the atmosphere in the current administration as handed down from its leadership, as it juxtaposes with our own common decency. Also, hypocrisy.
"she burns facts" ≠ "i moved on her like a bitch" etc etc etc
Also, I take issue with all the people claiming to be feminists who are critical of this. Women have been told in the past decades to put their big girl pants on and Sarah needs to do that. She is in great position of power, a job at the top, so relying on the 'girls cry' trope is lame. Does she really need protecting? or just trying to elicit sympathy? Would we do the same for Spicer?
No one is defending Chris Christie or Mitch McConnell, who got hit much harder. Chris was like, oh, yet another jab at me? Ah well. Hey, there's cake!

No, he started with Trump, and asked for your opinion of his actions. Because it's too difficult to find it within your soul to criticize a man with no character, morals, or integrity, you need to push down your guilt for voting for him by bringing up a political has-been that is only relevant because she keeps getting brought up by people that don't like her.

The majority of complaints about the coarseness of the WHCD are coming from people who dismissed Trump joking about sexual assault as locker room talk. That's the thread tying the subjects together.
Also post some receipts showing me having a habit of deflecting to Trump or STFU with that shit. Projecting like your name is Trump over there.
