I know this is not the easiest of Macs to deal with internally, and while searching and searching have read recommendatiosn that Battery replacement in this Mac is not advised - except by service engineers. I've pulled many Macs apart successfully - except this model. I have 5 batteries to replace and can't afford to take them to a service centre for the estimated 1.5 hours (each) bench time for this procedure.

Is there a manual online (I can't find one) to show me what needs to be done - though I think I can figure it out myself. I know the logic board need to be removed etc. I would just like clarification.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Help will be much appreciated and reciprocated.

It's not that tough. This is based of my 8500 they should be similar inside.

1 take the case off, screws in back
2 pull the daughter card and PCI cards
3 disconnect the A/V ports cable (near the daughter card)
4 disconnect all the cables along the top of the motherboard
5 disconnect the power swith at the front
6 there may be some screws on the motherboard holding it in (can't remember for certain)
7 pull the board up

Like i said the is for a 8500 anyone with a 9500 who would like to correct any mistakes please feel free.

It's not tough, but it's tougher than getting inside the more recent cases (like the 9600's and up). You practically have to take the whole thing apart, including removing the motherboard before you can get to any spots you need to (like the battery, or for adding RAM). I added memory to some 9500 systems at a former job once and it took me forever to get the information I required to perform this "operation". Once you've done it though you'll certainly never forget how to do it again.
