I saw amazon had a Bad Religion Christmas CD... ! Which from the samples was refreshingly non-sacharin, but perhaps likely to become annoying on repeat listenings. Sold out however.
I like the old stuff. Christmas Cocktails is a favorite compilation.

I know the idea is one suggestion... well, screw that. If you add Messiah to it, here's subego's snarky yet awesome 6 hours of Christmas music. Originally posted here in 2K5:
The "White Christmas" album by Bing Crosby, for beating your children to.
"Let it Snow" and "Silver Bells" by Dean Martin, for those who drink a bit too much of the nog.
"Christmas in Jail" by the Youngsters, ditto.
"Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt, needs no explanation.
"Sleigh Ride" by Ferrante and Teicher, I can't help but think of Jon Voight when I hear this.
"Blue Christmas" by Elvis, Christmas to snow to cocaine to Elvis.
"Carol of the Bells" on the "A Most Excellent Organs and Chimes Christmas, Vol 2" album. Creepy.
The piano reduction of the "Nutcracker Suite" performed by Martha Argerich. Everyone expects the nutcracker, but no one expects this fantastic version.
"Herbert Von Karajan - A Christmas Concert" and "Aquitania: Christmas Music from 12th century Aquitanian Monasteries"
Wow, music actually about the birth of Christ, that's ironic.
Lastly, "The Chipmunks Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)".

TSO's "The Lost Christmas Eve," any Manheim Steamroller Christmas album, any other TSO Christmas album. In that order.
Others would include Kathleen Battle's "A Christmas Celebration," and "The Bells of Christmas" from Cast in Bronze. ( Check this out!)

There is only one Christmas album that matters:
That said, I must confess I'm a huge fan of Percy Faith's Music of Christmas:

No, no don't be kidding. Their stuff is GREAT. Seriously, I can't have Christmas without Mannheim Steamroller.
The Canadian Brass and Empire Brass Quintet both have solid Christmas albums, plus the re-release of Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack a few years ago is awesome. Oh, and the Time-Life Treasury of Christmas music is GREAT. It really takes me back to my childhood every year.

Funny you'd mention that, I've actually been the Canadian Brass webmaster for a while.

Wow, thanks for this. Makes me think of all the times our band played hours and hours of Christmas stuff back in the old days, and never recorded a minute of it - we just took it for granted that we'd always know how to make music like that.
This is truly amazing work.

Oh, I love those guys. I only have a couple of their CDs, but I've listened to them hundreds of times each.
As a kid I used to go see Empire Brass every time they went on tour. We'd sometimes see the same show two or three nights in a row in different small towns.
I'm listening to The Believers again, and this is truly classic stuff.

Great music, nothing puts me in the Christmas mood like Guaraldi.
I also have to vote for Johnny Mathis' Christmas songs. I can almost hear the fireplace crackling just thinking about it.
