Hmm, form what I've read on various message boards, it seems you need to use 3rd party software like Toast to make bootable discs. I'm not sure if that's confirmed yet though.

Oh yes, it's confirmed.... by users (me including) and Apple
All I can tell you is that disk burner may be really mac like software, but it is crap when you really want to use it.
Just consider the iTunes / Disc Burner team a cool alternative to Toast
Now check that :
Disk burner needs 1.4 gigs available on your boot partition to burn a 700 megs disk, it can't perform what I call a disk copy, no boot discs either...
iTunes needs to 'expand' MP3 tracks before burning 'em...
Follow my advice : Buy Toast Deluxe 5, and configure 2 extensions sets in conflict catcher; that way U'll have the best of both of those alternatives.
NB : My opinion only refers to my own experience, Apple has done a great job including this software bundle with the news iMacs.

Yep, Toast Deluxe rocks, don't even bother with iTunes or Disc Burner.
Nice try Apple, but no cigar...

Well I have Toast Titanium 5 and Disk Burner and both extensions seem to get along fine.
I'm only keeping Toast 5 for bootable CDs, since I have enough free space for Disk Burner to make an image file before it burns I'm ok. I read somewhere there's a lesser chance of making a coaster if it burns this way - who knows.
All I know is Disk Burner is great for quick data/mp3/audio CDs and Toast Titanium is perfect for the more complicated jobs.
