Is it in beta, alpha? Is the feature set frozen?

Alpha, or if you will, very limited beta. The feature set is frozen.

So nagging you to add TV on DVD as a seperate shelf is pointless for this release?

If it's in alpha in November, what stage was it in in March when Leopard was *supposed* to be released?
Is it because a ton of features were packed into DL2 between March and November and kept DL2 in an alpha stage? This raises my expectations of DL2 almost tenfold. I'm sure DL2 is awesome but I'm also sure it's not awesome as I think it is and will inevitably be disappointed it got released so late.
I will buy it though...'cuz I loves the eye-candy.

For most of the past year it's been in "progress slowly while working around Leopard bugs and redoing things over and over again" mode. Now it's pretty much done but still has known bugs. We don't beta something with known bugs and unimplemented features. We get it to where we think it's ready to ship, then beta it. It's close, I'll tell you that. Very close. Mmm taste it.

Can't wait to see DL2!
How much longer do we have to wait!
Will there be upgrade price?

They've stated in the past that there will be an upgrade price... $20 I believe.
I literally CAN NOT wait for DL2 to come out.

About a month after 10.5.1 comes out so that they can be sure it doesn't break anything currently in development in DL2...oh but by then 10.5.2 builds will be seeded to developers....

Does DL2 require a Core Image compliant GPU? The Wired article says it uses Core Animation.
ie. Is there CPU fall back for some of the eye candy?

The frameworks handle CPU fallback automatically, so, yes.

If I buy DM now, will I get a free upgrade or should I wait?

The upgrade is $20, so whether you should wait is up to you. Impatience versus frugality.
